  24. There's something I forgot to mention. The new Amiga PAR software
  25. has a bug in the Q-Factor selection widget. ALWAYS use the up 
  26. and down buttons. When the value is directly entered by the user,
  27. this version has a tendency to just revert to the last value selected
  28. by the up and down buttons.

  32. While I'm on the subject, this newest version is the buggiest I've
  33. ever gotten from DPS. It often "glitches" the first frame on a
  34. playback. If the software finds a bad sector on the drive, there's
  35. no way out except to reboot the machine. During edit sessions
  36. the software now reorganizes the drive FAR too frequently, and
  37. when it does it relocates EVERYTHING. Even clips that were
  38. sleeping quietly for months under previous versions of the software.
  39. I now spend more time waiting for the reorganizations than editing.

  43. In closing I have some very important advice for PAR newbies. I've
  44. had mine for over a year now, and I found something out the hard
  45. way. KEEP YOUR DRIVES COOL!!!!  I can't stess this strongly 
  46. enough. High capacity drives generate tremendous amounts of heat.
  47. A hot drive will last about a month. NEVER NEVER NEVER run
  48. a PAR drive inside a stock 4000 case. Mine now sits in a tower case 
  49. opposite the power supply intake with 3 inch air spaces above AND 
  50. below, with vent slots in the front panel.
